VIMRX ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF INTERNET SITE
WWW.VIMRX.COM Offers Updates on VIMRX Research
and Share Price
Wilmington, DE, January 14, 1997 — VIMRX
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: VMRX), a development-stage biotech company
that specializes in therapies to fight viral and retroviral diseases, as
well as cancer, today announced that it has created its own Internet site:
www.vimrx.com.
Investors, researchers, medical
practitioners and other interested parties can obtain the latest
information on VIMRx’s current research projects and share price, as well
as details on the Company’s mission, management team and major
transactions. Scrolling text on the site’s home page highlights recent
news on the Company, while another area of the site includes summaries and
full text of all VIMRX press releases since 1995.
"Besides our shareholders, a large and
growing number of people interested in medical advances and investment
opportunities closely follow developments in the biotech sector," stated
Richard L. Dunning, VIMRx’s President and CEO. "We are happy to offer all
these individuals the added convenience of this Internet site, as a means
to keep current with events in VIMRx’s fast-paced field."
Going forward, the VIMRX Internet site will
include news releases and other information on Innovir Laboratories, Inc.
(NASDAQ SmallCap: INVR), in which VIMRX gained 68% ownership on January 2,
1997. VIMRX and Innovir have both been leaders in Oligozyme technology —
which, in contrast to conventional medicine, may allow the treatment and
prevention of diseases by blocking the transmission of illness-causing
information that is encoded in specific genes. All of VIMRx’s Oligozyme
research has been consolidated under the Innovir name.
VIMRx’s Internet site is interactive,
allowing readers to request more information or offer comments via
Internet e-mail.
VIMRx, based in Wilmington, DE, is
currently developing two technology platforms: chemically synthesized
hypericin, VIMRxyn®, and through its majority-owned affiliate, Innovir
Laboratories, catalytically active Oligozymes. VIMRxyn® is currently in
clinical development for the treatment of HIV, brain cancer and hepatitis
C, and is in pre-clinical development for the sterilization of blood.
Innovir’s Oligozyme technology seeks to control disease-triggering flaws
in individuals’ genetic chemistry. In addition to its potential use as a
therapeutic in attacking diseases at the genetic level, the Oligozyme
technology is being developed as a pharmaceutical research tool, to aid in
drug target identification and validation. VIMRX also intends to be active
in identifying and acquiring additional technologies and products.
